One day, she stumbles across the decidedly peculiar but very popular Ouran Host Club. She tries to leave, but accidentally breaks a vase, and unable to pay for it, she's told that she'll have to stay and do odd jobs. That is, until they decide she would be more valuable as a club member. Not realizing she's female due to her appearance, they fix her up and give her a male uniform. She's an instant hit, so they decide to have her keep up the charade even after they find out the truth. Haruhi, being average almost to a fault, doesn't know what to make of the unconventional activities of the Host Club (or of the even more unconventional members), but having little choice, she plays along. Before long, real bonds are formed, friends made, and Haruhi finds herself accepted in a way she could never have been otherwise in this affluent school.

More anime list at Popular Animes

Romeo X Juliet - Episode 6

Episode 6:
This segment begins with the doctor, masquerading as the Whirlwind, demanding the release of prisoners. One Carabinieri soldier fires at the doctor and wounds him. After a while, Cerimon ordered the release of the false Whirlwinds but told the doctor that he would not be as lucky as them for when he is dead, they would unmask him and see who the Whirlwind’s true identity is. The doctor wanting to protect the Whirlwind’s identity as well as his family sacrificed himself via burning. Romeo saw the smoke as he was riding atop his pegasus, Cielo lands at the square asks what the commotion is about. He learns of the whirlwind’s death and fears for Juliet, thinking that the dead Whirlwind and his love are one and the same.
As he was heading back to the palace, he caught a glimpse of Juliet and was relieved to see his love alive. They conversed for a few moments with Juliet saying that they can’t see each other again because she is the real Crimson Whirlwind.
Back at the palace, a Lords in council session was held and a few motions were introduced. One of them was to grant independence to the Carabinieri to do whatever it takes to control the townspeople and another was to form a vigilante group reporting to the Carabinieri which according to the duke would teach his subjects that cooperation leads to better incentives, rewards. The Lord Mayor Vittorio objected but was countered by duke with talk of how this would improve the town’s mentality, how those motions are like those of how a father would use the whip to discipline his children. Right them and there, the duke motioned for the House of Vittorio de Fresco Baldino to be stripped of their noble status with everyone giving their ascent.
That morning, the late doctor’s family moved out to the outskirts of town to avoid the chas in the city. And as Juliet and company were heading home, they received a tip from an ally that the lord mayor and his immediate family are to be assassinated. They promptly come to the rescue.
As the battle was in progress, Odin was injured and was about to be dealt with a killing blow by the assassin sent by Montague that a stranger riding atop a pegasus interfered.

List of Animes at Popular Anime List

Romeo X Juliet - Episode 5

Episode 5:
As Romeo and Juliet were taking shelter from the rain at the abandoned house, Conrad and the others were worrying about her condition and her location with the boy, Antonio taking the full blame. Conrad again emphasizes how important Juliet is and how they must protect her at all costs.
After the rain has subsided, Romeo and Juliet part ways at their meeting place where the irises are in full bloom. Romeo asks Juliet if they were to meet again. The latter answered ‘Yes’.
At the town, another monstrosity is being implemented. All food is to be rationed until the Red Whirlwind is caught. Added to this is the presence of a guard from the palace strolling around town announcing how those who could give information concerning the Whirlwind will be given extra rations from a reserved stockpile and also laying the blame of food shortage to the Whirlwind.
Back at the Farnese mansion, Conrad is in outrage about the food rationing. While they are talking about what best to do, Conrad warns Cordelia and Antonio not to tell Juliet. Further discussion was then prevented by the arrival of Juliet.
As Cordelia was helping Juliet brush her hair, the latter asks for help in making a guy’s shirt, saying that it’s for the guy she likes. Cordelia consents in teaching her but suggests an easier task as her first project in sewing, making a handkerchief. At the palace, Romeo couldn’t quite get over the idea of why Juliet dressed as a boy and had a thought that maybe she and the Whirlwind are one and the same. Although, he swept that idea away saying that it couldn’t possibly be her.
At the town, those suspected of being the Whirlwind were being arrested according to the tips of other townspeople. While Juliet is busy with her embroidery of a hanky she wants to give to Romeo, the doctor finds out about the two-faced friar who sold him out to the Carabinieri. On the other hand, Romeo talking with Benvolio, finds out about the martial law implemented by his father and seeks to take action against it only to be prevented by his friend, saying that he will be able to change those things in his own time as duke of Neo Verona. That night, the doctor confronts the scumbag friar only to get the answer that they have no other choice. Them being the lowest class of beings, they have to kiss up to the nobles to gain even just a smidgeon of power. The doctor storms off unable to do what he came to the church to do, to punish the friar.
That very same night, the doctor’s suspicion of the Whirlwind’s true identity is confirmed by Conrad. At the same time, Juliet learns of the town’s predicament as she was going around town. At the town square, she saw all those suspected of being the Whirlwind imprisoned and fated to be burned by the Carabinieri. She was on the verge of saving them, when she was stopped by the doctor. As happenings in the square were heating up, the doctor donned the Whirlwind’s gear and allowed himself to be captured by the trap set by Lord Cerimon, the Carabinieri leader.
List of Animes at Popular Anime List

Romeo X Juliet -Episode 4

Episode 4:
The town priest was revealed to be a spy for the palace, the very same spy who told the guards about the doctor’s involvement with the Crimson Whirlwind. Juliet is again reprimanded upon getting home concerning her reckless act of coming to the doctor’s rescue. Here, she makes a stand of not wanting to take revenge upon the Montagues, only to be enlightened by Conrad that it really must be done.
At the stables, Romeo inquires with his friend Benvolio about the Whirlwind and the reason behind the archduke’s hatred toward the town’s symbol for justice, taking into account that the people see the Whirlwind as their hope, making his stand supporting the Whirlwind. Benvolio gives him a word of advice, a warning.
Juliet stole out of William Farnese’s house dressed as Odin and went to the cemetery of the Capulets and Montagues. There she met Romeo and by some twist of luck was invited to ride upon the pegasus, winged horse, Cielo. As they were flying high above the town, an unexpected change in the weather took place and they found themselves being slowly soaked by the pouring rain. Conrad reveals the plan to overthrow Montague once Juliet turns sixteen years of age. That very same night, she receives her father's heirloom, the sword owned by the generations of Capulets. She then remembers all that happened that fateful night that she lost the ones she held most dear. The next day, the head of the Farnese family had a talk with Conrad about their continued stay for Juliet's protection and survival. Cordelia also had a little chat with Juliet about Romeo and finds out that Juliet is in love with a noble. Since it is a dangerous situation if a noble found out about Juliet's true identity, Cordelia made Juliet promise not to meet him again. As promised, Juliet did not go to meet Romeo, making the latter wait to no avail.
At the palace, Montague sets an example of his said cruelty, referring to his subjects as grapes in his vineyard which should be nourished or crushed as he so wishes. As Romeo was tardy for this gathering of nobles at the palace, Montague's suspicion was raised resulting to him ordering Mercutio to keep a close eye on Romeo.
At the town, the doctor who treats the Crimson Whirlwind's wounds is arrested being an accomplice of the most wanted persona at Neo Verona. Antonio comes to learn of the healer's sad plight and alerts Juliet to the situation. The Crimson Whirlwind again appears at the palace to save the doctor. The chase of the escaped prisoner and the Whirlwind leads to the tower where there is apparently no escape. Romeo arrives at the scene and came to know of the situation. Just as he was deciding on how to deal with the circumstances, he recognizes the person under the mask due to the familiar scent of irises. He helps them escape, through a mock battle, via the aqueducts below the castle. There, Juliet comes to know that Romeo is the sworn enemy's son.

Find out more anime list at anyInput Anime

Romeo X Juliet Episode 2

Episode 2:
With their first meeting they felt an emotion unlike those they had before. They finally experienced the thing called love. But just as Romeo asked for Juliet’s name, his best friend, Bervolio, called him to go back to the dance hall because the archduke calls for him. While Romeo was unsuccessful in knowing Juliet’s name, because she ran promptly away, the latter was overjoyed to know whom she holds a deep affection. As she was fleeing towards home, she was stopped at the gate by the guards and was thankfully saved by a friend who pretended to be one from the Farnese family.
Back at the ball, an announcement was made by the archduke who surprises Romeo. It concerns Romeo’s engagement to Lady Hermione of the Borromeo house. Inside the coach on its way towards home, Juliet was reprimanded by her two saviors due to her recklessness in going to the Neo Verona castle. When asked why, the two only emphasize the condition of her turning sixteen for her to learn everything. Romeo, meanwhile, is dancing with Lady Hermione but does not seem to be enjoying it. After a while, he excuses himself saying he isn’t well and retired to his quarters.
The next day, Juliet’s birthday, she went up to her usual antics again and appeared in town as the crimson whirlwind before a corrupt lender who takes young girls as payment if the borrower cannot pay twice the lent amount. She was forced to defend herself and as she was about to lose, her friend, Curio, came to the rescue.
The story continues to the point where Juliet asks Cordelia for a place where it\rises are in abundance for the reason that Romeo commented on her smelling like them. While Romeo was flying around on his winged horse saw a place with irises in full bloom and remembers Juliet and decides to land. As he was savoring the smell of the irises, Juliet was busy at one corner of that same place picking some of the flowers. And they met again. Romeo again asks for her name saying ‘I want to call out your name.’ She tells him and was complimented upon by how lovely it sounds. She bade Romeo farewell because everyone is waiting for her to celebrate her birthday, though they did not part until it was decided upon that they would meet again the next day at that same place at exactly the same time.
That night after supper, they (Juliet and her companions) went to the cemetery where the Capulets and Montagues were buried. Here she found out that she is Juliet Fimatta Arst Capulet, the sole survivor of the Capulet family who were murdered by the current archduke Montague fourteen years ago.

Find out more anime list at anyInput Anime List

Romeo X Juliet

Summary:
This is a story of a young and tragic love, set in the aerial city of Neo Verona. Tyranny rules this island in the sky after the Montague family took control 14 years prior. The disparity among the wealthy and poor is apparent in the present state, the earth dries and water stagnates. The sky itself is wrapped in a deep dense fog. Both Romeo and Juliet's lineages are of present and past ruling families of Neo Verona. Romeo is the son of the current Montague dictator, Juliet (a beautiful woman) masquerades as a man (Odin), she's the last descendent of Capulet the previous rulers who were killed by an assasin's dagger 14 years ago. Her true background is not to be revealed to her until her 16th birthday while being raised by her sister. The cruel hands of fate introduce 2 people who will become "Star Crossed Lovers".

Episode 1:
The story begins with the murder of the Capulet family by the tyrannical head of the Montague family. In doing so, he becomes entitled to the single rule of the city of Neo Verona. Of the whole Capulet family, Juliet was the only one who was able to escape, with help from the Capulet’s loyal knight.
14 years later, an ongoing search for the Capulet survivor takes place with the accusation of a young girl as being the missing heir. She is saved by the town’s hero, The Crimson Whirlwind. Saving the young girl’s life has its price. He then was chased by the soldiers, in which The Crimson Whirlwind le them on a merry chase, only to end up on a dead end. Failing to get a foothold, he fell from the top of a very tall structure, only to be saved by a guy of royal blood, named Romeo. After the said meeting, Odin, Cordelia and Antonio went back to their humble abode where Odin was revealed to be a young lady by the name of Juliet. Remembering how Romeo saved her, Juliet had the feeling that she was somehow saved in the past in that very same manner, which is via riding a flying horse, and she tells this to Cordelia. The latter in turn tells her that she would understand when she turns 16.
That very same night, an opportunity arose for her to go to the Verona Palace to attend the Rose Ball. Upon her arrival there, she had a feeling that the palace seems familiar to her like she had been there before. Looking up on the terrace, she meets the gaze of the tyrannical ruler Montague wherein she experiences a kind of fear unlike any other, resulting in her running to the courtyard, finally stopping by the fountain. There, she regains some of her calm, only to be asked if she was alright by a person no other than Romeo Montague himself. Thus, their first meeting as Romeo and Juliet, which starts a very interesting romantic story.

Find out more anime list at anyInput Anime List

Magic Knight Rayearth

Shidou Hikaru, Ryuuzaki Umi and Hououji Fuu are friends who go to the same school and will soon be parting ways for high school. Bush

George W. Bush is the eldest among the six children of George H. W. Bush and Barbara Pierce Bush. Bush’s grandfather, Prescott Bush, was a Senator from Connecticut, and his father served as U.S. President from 1989 to 1993. Bush attended The Kinkaid School as a child, Phillips Academy during his high school years and, following his father’s footsteps, Yale University where he received a bachelor ’s degree in history in 1968.

In May 1968, Bush was accepted into the Texas Air National Guard, after scoring the lowest acceptable passing grade on the pilot’s written aptitude test. After training, he was assigned to duty in Houston, flying Convair F-102s out of Ellington Air Force Base. Although he wasn’t accepted at the University Of Texas School Of Law, he accepted a transfer to the Alabama Air National Guard in 1972 to work on a Republican senate campaign, and in October 1973, he was discharged from the Texas Air National Guard. He then went to Harvard University, where he earned his MBA, and completed his six-year servce obligation in the inactive reserve.

In 1977, he was introduced by friends at a backyard barbeque to Laura Welch, a school teacher and librarian. Bush married her on November 5 of 1977 after a three-month courtship and proposal. They settled in Midland, Texas. Laura had twin daughters, Jenna and Barbara, in 1981, graduating from high school in 2000 and from the University of Texas at Austin and Yale University, respectively, in 2004.

In 1978, Bush ran for the House of Representatives from Texas’s 19th congressional district. He lost to Kent Hance by 6,000 votes. Bush returned to the oil industry and began a series of small, independent oil exploration companies.

In 1988, Bush and his family moved to Washington D.C. to work on his father’s campaign for the U.S. presidency. He worked as a campaign adviser and served as liaison to the media; he assisted his father by campaigning across the country. Returning to Texas after the successful campaign, he purchased a share in the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in April 1989, where he served as managing general partner for five years. In December 1991, Bush was one of seven people named by his father to run his father's 1992 Presidential re-election campaign; Bush's title was "campaign advisor".

As Bush's brother, Jeb, sought the governorship of Florida, Bush declared his candidacy for the 1994 Texas gubernatorial election. Winning the Republican primary easily, Bush faced popular Democrat incumbent Governor Ann Richards. His campaign focused on four themes: welfare reform, tort reform, crime reduction, and education improvement. Bush's campaign advisers were Karen Hughes, Joe Allbaugh, and Karl Rove.

In June 1999, while Governor of Texas, Bush announced his candidacy for President of the United States. With no incumbent running, Bush entered a large field of candidates for the Republican Party presidential nomination. Along with Bush, that field of candidates consisted of John McCain, Alan Keyes, Steve Forbes, Gary Bauer, Orrin Hatch, Elizabeth Dole, Dan Quayle, Pat Buchanan, Lamar Alexander, John Kasich and Robert C. Smith.

Bush portrayed himself as a compassionate conservative. He campaigned on a platform that included increasing the size of the United States Armed Forces, cut taxes, improve education, and aid minorities. By early 2000, the race had centered on Bush and McCain.

Bush won the Iowa caucuses, and although he was heavily favored to win the New Hampshire primary, he trailed John McCain by 19% and lost that primary. However, the Bush campaign regained momentum and, according to political observers, effectively became the front runner after the South Carolina primary. The South Carolina campaign was controversial for the use of telephone poll questions phrased negatively toward McCain.

On July 25, 2000, Bush surprised some observers by asking the Halliburton corporation's chief executive officer Dick Cheney, a former White House Chief of Staff, U.S. Representative, and Secretary of Defense, to be his running mate. Cheney was then serving as head of Bush's Vice-Presidential search committee. Soon after, he was officially nominated by the Republican Party at the 2000 Republican National Convention.
Bush continued to campaign across the country, and touted his record as Governor of Texas. Bush's campaign criticized his Democratic opponent, incumbent Vice President Al Gore, over gun control and taxation.
As the election returns came in on November 7, Bush won twenty-nine states including Florida. The closeness of the Florida outcome led to a recount. Two initial counts went to Bush, but the outcome was tied up in courts for a month until reaching the U.S. Supreme Court. On December 9, in the Bush v. Gore case, the Court reversed a Florida Supreme Court ruling ordering a third count, and stopped an ordered statewide hand recount based on the argument that the use of different standards among Florida's counties violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. The machine recount stated that Bush had won the Florida vote by a margin of 537 votes out of six million cast. Bush received 271 electoral votes to Gore's 266. However, he lost the popular vote by 543,895 votes, surpassing the previous 1876 election record. This made him one of three Presidents elected without receiving a plurality of the popular vote.

Bush commanded broad support in the Republican Party and did not encounter a primary challenge. He appointed Kenneth Mehlman as campaign manager, with a political strategy devised by Karl Rove.
Bush carried thirty-one of fifty states for a total of 286 electoral votes. He won an absolute majority of the popular vote (50.7% to his opponent's 48.3%).

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://anyinput.blogspot.com/2008/10/george-w-bush.html' title='George W. McCain, Jr. (1911–1981) and Roberta (Wright) McCain at Coco Solo Nacal Air Station in Panama. His family, his older sister Sandy and younger brother Joe included followed his father to various naval postings ion the United States and in the Pacific. Altogother, he attended about 20 schools.

In 1951, the family settled in Northern virginia, and McCain attended Episcopal High School in Alexandria where he excelled at wrestling and graduated in 1954.

Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, McCain enrolled at the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis. there, he was a friend and unofficial leader to many of his classmates and he was also a lightweight boxer. He came into conflict with higher-ranking personnel and did not always obey the rules, resulting to his having a low class rank (894 of 899), despite his having a high IQ. As with many students, he did well in subjects that interest him, such as literature and history, but studied only enough to pass those he had difficulty with, such as mathematics. McCain graduated in 1958.

McCain's pre-combat duty started when he was commissioned an ensign, and began training for two and a half years at Pensacola as a naval aviator. He completed flight school in 1960 and became a naval pilot of ground-attack aircraft, assigned to A-1 Skyraider squadrons aboard the aircraft carriers USS Intrepid and USS Enterprise in the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas. He started as a sub-par flier, oftentimes crashing the planes he was assigned. His skills improved over time and he was seen as a good pilot, though he tends to do dangerous stunts in his flying. On July 3, 1965, McCain married Carol Shepp, a model originally from Philadelphia. McCain adopted her two young children Douglas and Andrew. He and Carol then had a daughter named Sidney.

His combat duty began when he was 30 years old, in summer 1967, when Forrestal was assigned to a bombing campaign, Operation Rolling Thunder, during the Vietnam War.

By then a lieutenant commander, McCain was almost killed on July 29, 1967, when he was near the center of the Forrestal fire. He escaped from his burning jet and was trying to help another pilot escape when a bomb exploded; McCain was struck in the legs and chest by fragments. McCain was struck in the legs and chest by fragments. With the Forrestal out of commission, McCain volunteered for assignment with the USS Oriskany, another aircraft carrier employed in Operation Rolling Thunder. Once there, he would be awarded the Navy Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star for missions flown over North Vietnam.

McCain's capture and subsequent imprisonment as a prisoner of war (POW) beagan on October 26, 1967. He was flying his 23rd bombing mission over North Vietnam, when his A-4E Skyhawk was shot down by a missile over Hanoi. McCain fractured both arms and a leg, and nearly drowned when he parachuted into Truc Bach Lake. Some North Vietnamese pulled him ashore, then others crushed his shoulder with a rifle butt and bayoneted him. McCain was then transported to Hanoi's main Hoa Lo Prison, nicknamed the "Hanoi Hilton". Although badly wounded, his captors efusd to treat his injuries, continuously beating amd interrogating him for information; he was given medical care only upon disconery of the North Vietnamese that his father was a top admiral. His being a POW made the front pages of many newspapers.

McCain spent six weeks in the hospital while receiving minimal care. By then, he has lost 50 pounds, was in a chest cast and with his hair turned white, McCain was sent to a different camp on the outskirts of Hanoi in December 1967, into a cell with two other Americans who did not expect him to live for very long. In March 1968, McCain was put into solitary confinement, where he would remain for two years.

In mid–1968, John S. McCain, Jr. was named commander of all U.S. forces in the Vietnam theater, and the North Vietnamese offered McCain early release because they wanted to appear merciful for propaganda purposes, and also to show other POWs that elite prisoners were willing to be treated preferentially. McCain turned down the offer; he would only accept repatriation if every man taken in before him was released as well. Such early release was prohibited by the POW's interpretation of the military Code of Conduct: To prevent the enemy from using prisoners for propaganda, officers were to agree to be released in the order in which they were captured.

McCain's return to the United States reunited him with his family. His wife Carol had suffered her own crippling ordeal due to an automobile accident in December 1969. McCain became a celebrity of sorts, as a returned POW.

McCain underwent treatment for his injuries, including months of grueling physical therapy, and attended the National War College at Fort McNair in Washington, D.C. during 1973–1974. Having been rehabilitated, by late 1974, McCain had his flight status reinstated, and in 1976 he became commanding officer of a training squadron stationed in Florida. He improved the unit's flight readiness and safety records, and won the squadron its first-ever Meritorious Unit Commendation. During this period in Florida, McCain had extramarital affairs, and the McCains' marriage began to falter, for which he later would accept blame.

In April 1979, McCain met Cindy Lou Hensley, a teacher from Phoenix, Arizona, whose father had founded a large beer distributorship. They began dating, and he urged his wife Carol to grant him a divorce, which she did in February 1980, with the uncontested divorce taking effect in April 1980. The settlement included two houses, and financial support for her ongoing medical treatments due to her 1969 car accident; they would remain on good terms. McCain and Hensley were married on May 17, 1980, with Senators William Cohen and Gary Hart attending as groomsmen. McCain’s children did not attend, and several years would pass before they reconciled. John and Cindy McCain entered into a prenuptial agreement that kept most of her family's assets under her name; they would always keep their finances apart and file separate income tax returns.

McCain decided to leave the Navy. It was doubtful whether he would ever be promoted to the rank of full admiral, as he had poor annual physicals and had been given no major sea command. His chances of being promoted to rear admiral were better, but McCain declined that prospect, as he had already made plans to run for Congress and said he could "do more good there." McCain retired from the Navy on April 1, 1981 as a captain. He was designated as disabled and awarded a disability pension. Upon leaving the military, he moved to Arizona. His 17 military awards and decorations include the Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star and Navy Commendation Medal, for actions before, during, and after his time as a POW.

McCain set his sights on becoming a Congressman because he was interested in current events, was ready for a new challenge, and had developed political ambitions during his time as Senate liaison.

In 1984 McCain and his wife Cindy had their first child together, daughter Meghan. She was followed two years later by son John Sidney McCain IV (known as "Jack"), and in 1988 by son James ("Jimmy"). In 1991, Cindy McCain brought an abandoned three-month old girl needing medical treatment to the U.S. from a Bangladeshi orphanage run by Mother Teresa. The McCains decided to adopt her, and named her Bridget.

McCain announced his candidacy for president on September 27, 1999 in Nashua, New Hampshire, saying he was staging "a fight to take our government back from the power brokers and special interests, and return it to the people and the noble cause of freedom it was created to serve". The leader for the Republican nomination was Texas Governor George W. Bush, who had the political and financial support of most of the party establishment.

John McCain formally announced his intention to run for President of the United States on April 25, 2007 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He stated that: "I'm not running for President to be somebody, but to do something; to do the hard but necessary things not the easy and needless things." He also said that the United States should never fight a war without fully committing the necessary resources, unlike what initially occurred in Iraq.

On February 5, McCain won both the majority of states and delegates in the Super Tuesday Republican primaries, giving him a commanding lead toward the Republican nomination. Romney departed from the race on February 7. McCain's wins in the March 4 primaries clinched a majority of the delegates, and he became the presumptive Republican nominee.

McCain, having been born in the (Panama) Canal Zone, will if elected become the first president who was born outside the current 50 states. This raises a potential legal issue, since the United States Constitution requires the president to be a natural-born citizen of the United States. A bipartisan legal review and a unanimous Senate resolution both concluded that he is a natural-born citizen, but the matter is still a subject of some legal controversy. Also, if inaugurated in 2009 at age 72 years and 144 days, he would be the oldest U.S. president upon ascension to the presidency, and the second-oldest president to be inaugurated.

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was revealed as McCain's surprise choice for running mate on August 29, 2008. McCain was only the second U.S. major-party presidential nominee to select a woman for running mate and the first Republican to do so; Palin would become the first female Vice-President of the United States if elected. McCain and Palin became the Republican Party's Presidential and Vice Presidential nominees, respectively, at the 2008 Republican National Convention, on September 3, 2008 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. On September 24, McCain said he was suspending his campaign, called on Obama to join him, and proposed delaying the first of the general election debates with Obama, in order to work on the proposed U.S. financial system bailout before Congress, which was targeted at addressing the subprime mortgage crisis and liquidity crisis. McCain's intervention helped to give dissatisfied House Republicans an opportunity to propose changes to the plan that was otherwise close to agreement. After Obama declined McCain's suspension suggestion, McCain went ahead with the debate on September 26. On October 1, McCain voted in favor of a revised $700 billion rescue plan. Another debate was held on October 7; like the first one, polls afterward suggested that Obama had won it. A final presidential debate occurred on October 15. The election is set for November 4.

See the US Presidents from past up to present

Barack Obama

Barack Obama is the son of Barack Obama, Sr., a black Kenyan from Nyang’oma Kogelo, Siaya District, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white American from Wichita, Kansas. Obama's father returned to Kenya and was only given one more chance to see his son before dying in an automoblie accident in 1982. After her divorce, Dunham married Lolo Soetoro and the family moved to Indonesia, Soetoro's home country in 1967, where Obama attended local schools in Jakarta until he wasten years old. he then returned to Honolulu, living with his maternal grandparents while attending Punahou School from fifth grade in 1971 until his graduation from igh school in 1979. Obama's mother returned to Hawaii in 1972 for several years then went back to Indonesia in order to complete her dissertation. Ovarian cancer claimed her life in 1995. As an asult, Obama admitted to using marijuana, cocaine and alcohol during his high school years, which he described as his gratest moral failure at the Civil Forum on the Presidency of 2008.

After high school, Obama moved to Los Angeles , where he studied at Occidental College for two years. then transfering to Columbia University in New York City, majoring in political science with a specialization in internal relations. He graduated with a B.A. from Colombia in 1983, worked for a year at the Business International Corporation and then at the New York Public Interest Research Group.

After four years in New York City, Obama moved to Chicago, where he was hired as director of Developing Communities Project (DCP) and worked there for three years from June 1985 to MAy 1988. During his three years as the director, the organization underwent many improvements and managed major accomplishments from its staff to its budget and other sponsored programs. He also worked as a consultant and intructor for the Gamaliel Foundation. In mid-1988, he was able to travel to Europe for the first time for three weeks then for fine weeks to Kenya, where for the very first time, he was able to meet many of his Kenyan relatives.

Obama entered Harvard Law School in late 1988, where he was selected, based on his grades and a writing competition as an editor of the Harvard Law Review. In February 1990, in his secone year, he was elected president of the Law Review, a full-time volunteer position which functions as the editor-in-chief which surprised the LAw Review's staff of eighty editors. His election as the first black president of the Reviewg was widely publicized, followed by ceveral long interviews and profiles.During is summers, Obama returned to Chicago working as a summer associate at the law firms of Sidley & Austin in 1989 nd Hopkins & Sutter in 1990. After graduating with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) magna cum laude from HArvard in 1991, he went back to Chicago.

Beginning in 1992, Obama taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School for twelve years, being first classified as a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996, and then as a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004.

He also, in 1993, joined Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, a twelve attorney law firm specializing in civil rights litigation and neighborhood economic development, where he was an associate for three years from 1993 to 1996, then of counsel from 1996 to 2004, with his law license becoming inactive in 2002.

Obama was a founding member of the board of directors of Public Allies in 1992, resigning before his wife, Michelle, became the founding executive director of Public Allies Chicago in early 1993. He served from 1993 to 2002 on the board of directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago, which in 1985 had been the first foundation to fund Obama's DCP, and also from 1994 to 2002 on the board of directors of The Joyce Foundation. He also served on the board of directors of the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the Center for Neighborhood Technology, and the Lugenia Burns Hope Center.

Obama was elected to the Illinois Senate in 1996, succeeding State Senator Alice Palmer as Senator from Illinois' 13th District. Once elected, Obama gained bipartisan support for legislation reforming ethics and health care laws. He sponsored a law increasing tax credits for low-income workers, negotiated welfare reform, and promoted increased subsidies for childcare. Obama supported Republican Governor Ryan's payday loan regulations and predatory mortgage lending regulations aimed at averting home foreclosures in 2001 as co-chairman of the bipartisan Joint Commitee on Administrative Rules.

Obama was reelected to the Illinois Senate in 1998, and again in 2002. In 2000, he lost a Democratic primary run for the U.S. House of Representatives to four-term incumbent Bobby Rush.

In January 2003, Obama became chairman of the Illinois Senate's Health and Human Services Committee when Democrats, after a decade in the minority, regained a majority. He sponsored and led unanimous, bipartisan passage of legislation to monitor racial profiling by requiring police to record the race of drivers they detained and legislation making Illinois the first state to mandate videotaping of homicide interrogations. During his 2004 general election campaign for U.S. Senate, police representatives credited Obama for his active engagement with police organizations in enacting death penalty reforms. Obama resigned from the Illinois Senate in November 2004 following his election to the US Senate.

In mid-2002, Obama began considering a run for the U.S. Senate; he enlisted political strategist David Axelrod that fall and formally announced his candidacy in January 2003. Obama's candidacy was boosted by Axelrod's advertising campaign featuring images of the late Chicago Mayor Harold Washington and an endorsement by the daughter of the late Paul Simon, former U.S. Senator for Illinois. Obama's expected opponent in the general election, Republican primary winner Jack Ryan, withdrew from the race in June 2004.

In July 2004, Obama wrote and delivered the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston, Massachusetts. After describing his maternal grandfather's experiences as a World War II veteran and a beneficiary of the New Deal's FHA and G.I. Bill programs, Obama spoke about changing the U.S. government's economic and social priorities. He questioned the Bush administration's management of the Iraq War and highlighted America's obligations to its soldiers. Drawing examples from U.S. history, he criticized heavily partisan views of the electorate and asked Americans to find unity in diversity, saying, "There is not a liberal America and a conservative America; there's the United States of America." Broadcasts of the speech launched Obama's status as a national political figure and boosted his campaign for U.S. Senate. In August 2004, two months after Ryan's withdrawal and less than three months before Election Day, Alan Keyes accepted the Illinois Republican Party's nomination to replace Ryan. In the November 2004 general election, Obama received 70% of the vote to Keyes's 27%, the largest victory margin for a statewide race in Illinois history.

Obama was sworn in as a senator on January 4, 2005.
Obama voted in favor of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and cosponsored the Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act. In September 2006, Obama supported a related bill, the Secure Fence Act. On June 3, 2008, Senator Obama, along with Senators Thomas R. Carper, Tom Coburn, and John McCain, introduced follow-up legislation: Strengthening Transparency and Accountability in Federal Spending Act of 2008.
Later in 2007, Obama sponsored an amendment to the Defense Authorization Act adding safeguards for personality disorder military discharges. He sponsored the Iran Sanctions Enabling Act supporting divestment of state pension funds from Iran's oil and gas industry, and co-sponsored legislation to reduce risks of nuclear terrorism. Obama also sponsored a Senate amendment to the State Children's Health Insurance Program providing one year of job protection for family members caring for soldiers with combat-related injuries.

On February 10, 2007 Obama announced his candidacy for President of the United States in front of the Old State Capitol building in Springfield, Illinois. The choice of the announcement site was symbolic since it was also where Abraham Lincoln in 1858 delivered his historic "House Divided" speech.

Among the January 2008 DNC-sanctioned state contests, Obama tied with Hillary Clinton for delegates in the New Hampshire primary and won more delegates than Clinton in the Iowa, Nevada and South Carolina elections and caucuses. On Super Tuesday, he emerged with 20 more delegates than Clinton.

In March 2008, a controversy broke out concerning Obama's former pastor of twenty years, Jeremiah Wright.

During April, May, and June, Obama won the North Carolina, Oregon, and Montana primaries and remained ahead in the count of pledged delegates, while Clinton won the Pennsylvania, Indiana, West Virginia, Kentucky, Puerto Rico, and South Dakota primaries. During the period, Obama received endorsements from more superdelegates than did Clinton.

On June 19, Obama became the first major-party presidential candidate to turn down public financing in the general election since the system was created in 1976, reversing his earlier intention to accept it.

On August 28, Obama delivered a speech in front of 84,000 supporters in Denver and viewed by over 38 million on television. During the speech he accepted his party's nomination and presented details of his policy goals.

See the US Presidents from past up to present

Install Microsoft Fonts in Linux

How to Install Microsoft Fonts in Linux Guide:

Tested on Distribution: Ubuntu Hardy Heron

How to install MS core fonts

You can install the MS core fonts by installing the msttcorefonts package. To do this, enable the “Universe” component of the repositories. This is done by default in Hardy. After you do that, use the following command from the command line:

$sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts

After installing new fonts, you will have to log out and log in again to be able to see and use the new fonts. If you want to avoid this, you can regenerate the fonts cache by issuing the following command:

$sudo fc-cache -fv

And that is it. Microsoft Windows Font Styles are now part of your Linux Ubuntu System.

Source: netstat -an|grep -i listen

Guide how to Export Wordpress Blogroll Links

Because there is no Plugin for wordpress that export blogroll links I will write this simple guide instead of copy paste all 100+ entries of blogroll links

Login to your admin:
http://www.domain.com/wp-admin/
Go to Manage -> Links
on Manage Links click “Add New” -> Import Links
you will see this or similar table
Specify an OPML URL: ” http://www.copyoldwebsiteblogroll.com/wp-links-opml.php ” -> click Import OPML File

WordPress Theme

It’s been a long time since themes.wordpress.net stopped accepting new themes. Since then most theme authors have been distributing their themes from their own sites, without a good centralized place for people to browse, search, comment on, and rate themes. With the success of the plugins directory, we’ve wanted to have those same benefits in a theme directory. Today is the day we start making that happen, with the introduction of wordpress.org/extend/themes/.

Bringing the new theme directory under the WordPress “extend” umbrella allowed us to take advantage of all the infrastructure that has already been built up to support WordPress.org. If you’ve browsed through the plugin directory, you’ll feel right at home in the new theme directory.

We’ve gone through great lengths to make this as painless as possible for theme authors. You don’t need to know anything about Subversion (our back end magic takes care of all that for you), just login with your WordPress.org username and password and go to the upload page. From there you upload your regular theme zip file and we take care of the rest.

Once you upload your new theme we do a few automated checks for some of the requirements for each theme. If we find one that you missed we’ll provide you an error and description of what needs to be fixed. When a theme upload has been accepted we’ll send you an email and put it in the queue to be reviewed, to make sure we didn’t miss anything. After the theme has been approved you’ll get another email letting you know that the theme is now live.

That catches you up to where we’re at today. When you finish that theme you’ve been slaving over, upload it to the new directory and let us know what you think. Since so much has changed since the old theme directory we’re starting fresh from zero. If you’ve got specific questions or suggestions contact us and we’ll do our best to get them answered.

Source: http://wordpress.org/development/

The History Of Computer Virus

The Internet has been abuzz lately claiming we are in the 25th year of the computer virus. After digging through some Web sites offering insight into the history of the computer virus, only one thing is constant: Elk Cloner was not the first. But if we fast-forward to the 1970s, the world's first computer virus actually sprang up. As if you needed more evidence to prove this isn't the 25th anniversary of the computer virus, 1975 ushered in one of the most legendary viruses ever: Pervading Animal.

Rising Company showed that a total of 133,717 new viruses affected the Chinese mainland in the first half of 2007. If it spreads, technology experts warn the latest strains of the insidious RINBOT computer virus could hijack network systems of businesses worldwide. The recommended method of detecting and cleaning the computer from any computer viruses or other malware is an anti-virus protection program. In order for a computer virus to affect you, it requires some explicit action on your part. don't click on attachments and your inbox will be safe from computer viruses. One should note that in 1989 there began total epidemics of computer viruses in Russia, caused by the same "Cascade", "Jerusalem" and "Vienna", which besieged the computers of Russian users.
Viruses are malicious software programs that have been designed by other computer users to cause destruction and havoc on a computer and spread themselves to other computers where they can repeat the process. Once the virus is made, it is often distributed through shareware, pirated software, e-mail, P2P programs, or other programs where users share data. The virus is interesting because of its ability to attach itself to other programs and cause them to become viruses as well. Most likely the process of changing priorities will resemble the process of DOS dying and new operating systems gaining strength together with their specific programs.
Besides that the infected system "hanged" if some of the programs tried to reach outside the V86 mode, for example to determine the presence of extended memory. Periodically on the mainframes at that period of time there appeared programs called "the rabbit". These programs cloned themselves, occupied system resources, thus lowering the productivity of the system. As a result there appears a huge number of miscellaneous "Trojan horses", programs, doing some kind of harm to the system when started.

The anti-virus programs developers had nothing to do but rush to adjust the polymorphous viruses detecting technique, designed so far just for DOS-viruses, to the new conditions. There from virus has made the way to USA where through the staff oversight infected at once several popular Web servers that started to distribute infected game programs. There may appear other problems who which might bring a lot of trouble to users and enough extra work to the developers of anti-virus programs. Anti-virus programs aren't very good at detecting Trojan horse programs, so be extremely careful about opening text-only files and Word/Excel documents from unknown or 'dubious' sources.

Source: http://www.bybyespyware.net

Free Online Storage -> Free Online Inventory - On line Data Collection - DVD Movie Collections Sharing and More

Free Online Storage -> Free Online Inventory - On line Data Collection - DVD Movie Collections Sharing and More

Installing PHP locally for Web Development

Almost all of the web servers nowadays are using PHP for web page development or dynamic web pages, HTML alone cannot do it since hypertext machine language (HTML) interprets only basic tags the web has to offer. Since a lot of business people wants their records encoded in the web for record saf keeping and easy access whenever or wherever, PHP offers an answer for this journey. PHP has a lot of functions and techniques that are useful for web business.
As an aspiring web developer, I have collected simple steps for you to lit the candle on your web development path using PHP combined with MySQL (the back - end database you will be using, Apache (your web's interpreter) and the PHP (the one that delivers and processes tags abd commands/instructions for web pages). We will be using XAMPP -a package for Windows that has all you need for web development, in short, an installer for the abovce mentioned softwares we mentioned lately, it is a free package and is downloadable from the internet. The following procedures discusses step by step on how to install PHP+MySQL and Apache using XAMPP. Let us assume, we are using Windows operating system.

First off, you will be needing to download a copy XAMPP from here - XAMPP is an open source package that lets you use the software under GPL Agreement.

In a little while, there will be a window that would pop-up letting you choose to save the file or not. Please click "Save" button and wait until the file has finished downloading.

What's next after the downloading is finished? Since this file is an installer, all you need to do is to double-click the file from the location where you have saved it and follow on screen instructions.

Specify the location where you want your XAMPP installed, as a beginner, it should be in C:\, you might get into trouble if you experiment installing it on to another location on the first time you try to do it and you don't know how to configure it later on.

Select the services you want from the choice presented in front of you by the installer. If possible, select all of the checkbox, or you may want to leave default choices to avoid later conflicts on the configurations.

Wait for the package to fully install your XAMPP, windows might pop-up from time to auto-configure your system and getting ready for use, on this process, don't click anything on the installtion XAMPP window in front of you, be sure to undersand everything before you go clicking on the buttons while installation is on going.

A window will let you know that the installation is finished and will asks you to either launch XAMPP Control Panel or not, well, of course, you have to click "Yes" on it, to start Control Panel for XAMPP.

Last thing, to test if your installation is successful, launch your browser, then at the address bar, type the following: http://localhost/. If your browser brings you to screen like this
The default language if French, but of course, you have to click on the Language options at the lower left of the screen to fit your language preferences.

On the extra note, place your project folder at [XAMPP installation directory]\XAMPP\httdocs\ folder, then type in http://localhost/[your project folder]/ to see your project.

This is a product of PHP created site.

Confused? Please let us know at thewebpromoter[at]gmail[dot]com.

My anyinput Free Online Data Inventory

I have created an account at anyInput to monitor and have a record of my internet service provider's performance for future reference, this is also one form of my Free Online Data Inventory since the term "monitoring" is also related to inventory. The following is my step by step procedures on how did I made an account as well as how did I encoded my records in the system.

anyInput Account Creation:
1. At the web browser address bar, type http://www.anyinput.com
2. Click on the "Sign Up" link
3. Provide for your desired username, email address, and password. Username is what one of the required data you need to enter the system as well as password, so better think of a unique combination of username and password, the system has a built-in module to detect whether a certain user already owned that username you want. You should remember your username and password combination, if in case you did forgot them, your email address canbe used for the rescue. The system will provide you with all the necessary information regarding account information retrieval.
4. It is for server-side scripting, but can be used from a command line interface or in standalone graphical applications.

While PHP was originally created by Rasmus Lerdorf in 1995, the main implementation of PHP is now produced by The PHP Group and serves as the de facto standard for PHP as there is no formal specification. Released under the PHP License, the Free Software Foundation considers it to be free software.

PHP is a widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML. It generally runs on a web server, taking PHP code as its input and creating web pages as output. It can be deployed on most web servers and on almost every operating system and platform free of charge. PHP is installed on more than 20 million websites and 1 million servers, although the number of websites with PHP installed has declined since August 2005. It is also the most popular Apache module among computers using Apache as a web server. The most recent major release of PHP was version 5.2.6 on May 1, 2008.

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PHP

In relation to the article I have wrote previously entitled, "The Power of Open Source" came to my mind on the most used web scripting today, its an open source type of programming technology, and a versatile programming languages, it comes to a many different frameworks, to mention a few, there's the Smarty, CodeIgniter, Symfony (the framework that was used in building anyInput.com and anyAssets.com), and many other frameworks in cyberspace, we might not know, the future maker of a new framework based on PHP programming language is you, who knows?

PHP is used in building dynamic websites, wherein it elaborates the use of basic HTML codes plus a combination of Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) and your site will be an overwhelming and dynamic one. There is also an option if you want to make your site very useful where you may want to encode and save records, another tool that was used in combination with what is called phpMyAdmin, its a tool to manage a set of databases and record tables where your data are stored. Some PHP-based websites are run by a database, wherein all the commands needed to run a dynamic website are stored in a database, it is called "database-driven website", anyInput.com and anyAssets.com are very obvious examples of a database driven sites. PHP also supports image development through the use of the basic image HTML code. It also supports audio and multimedia file types, and it has also a capability of uploading and downloading of files.

PHP is truly a useful and the most versatile web scripts among others in web development. So you can try them right now and start making wonderful, dynamic and useful sites out of PHP web scripting. You can start learning everything about PHP in this link.

The Power of Open Source

Open source is a development methodology, which offers practical accessibility to a product's source (goods and knowledge). Some consider open source as one of various possible design approaches, while others consider it a critical strategic element of their operations. Before open source became widely adopted, developers and producers used a variety of phrases to describe the concept; the term open source gained popularity with the rise of the Internet, which provided access to diverse production models, communication paths, and interactive communities.

The open source model of operation and decision making allows concurrent input of different agendas, approaches and priorities, and differs from the more closed, centralized models of development. The principles and practices are commonly applied to the development of source code for software that is made available for public collaboration, and it is usually released as open-source software.

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_source

Open source usually gains a little in the part of the developers, but it is practical, cheap and reliable in terms of sharing and collaboration of software projects among developers, even worldwide software developers can participate in another group of programmers without leaving the newbies in terms of codes, methodology, framework used and file exclusion issues on one's projects.

Take for example, the Linux Operating System, this software package comes into a lot of versions in a fast phase, from time to time Linux OS developers releases new versions of their project, Ubuntu, one of their projects has already 6 major version releases such as Ubuntu 6.06 LTS which was released 1st of June 2006, Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS released on August 10, 2006, Ubuntu 7.04 released April 19, 2007, Ubuntu 7.10 - October 2008 and the previously released version is the Ubuntu 8.04 LTS which was released April 24, 2008. Look closely at the span of time between each release, the releases are very fast, why is that so? Its all because of the Open Source Technology which invites a lot of collaborative developers and the saying "The More, The Merrier", applies to this type of software development practices, since there are a lot of programmers who joins hand in hand, the software can be finished as early as possible, can you imagine thousands of developers for just a single project. Class, modules and codes are very easy to understand since it uses standard language among its developers which makes them understand each other.

This technology is also a very cheap and low costing project development, since Open Source organization don't need to pay for the developers itself but needs a sponsor and donation makes every volunteer keep them alive. Everyone who has the heart to help others and share knowledge as well as has a very extensive knowledge on Linux scripting and programming can be one of the volunteer, just research for a way on how to join their organization and start becoming an Open Source developer. I don't have the idea on joining them though.

As a result, Open Source technology now grows so fast, there are a lot of development software on the internet rises as this kind of framework, to mention a few, PHP, AJAX, JavaScript, and a lot more.

On the other note, we can interpret Open Source as free stuffs and sharing. And it is also what anyInput is doing in the internet world, free listings of anything you want to share, any information that can amaze the world, any amazing stuff that can surprise humankind and the readers who searches for truth, who searches for knowledge.

Free Links Exchange for Data Collection, Data Inventory topics here

As I go reading on most of the forums, specifically at forums.digitalpoint.com, especially on the link development or link building and SEO topics to promote our site, anyInput, the free online data collection, free online data inventory resources, I usually see link exchanges and link improvement. Please read them carefully and please post any thoughts that you may ever wanted to say.

------

Where have I been during these past 5 days of being offline?

I was calling up Globelines Broadband customer support service in order to follow up on the restoration of their “unlimited” internet service in our little corner of Silang, Cavite.

It all started back in March 28, 2007 when the broadband service was disrupted due to some problems their main server suffered. The problem they said was Luzon-wide. So it was understandable, but later that day my land-line lost its dial-tone. What the heck happened?!

The problem came from their ‘facilities’, the cabinet of switches, ports and routers they put up in our town plaza. My fellow town-mates who were also on Globelines had to go to their business center in SM City Dasmariñas to file reports about this personally, I was among them. Thankfully, a crew was sent out the following day, March 29 and restored our land-lines to service. Unfortunately, our broadband service was still out, which is what we really and badly needed.

That town-mate of mine owns an internet cafe so his business was literally dependent on Globelines broadband being usable for him to make a living. The same was in my case, I badly needed my internet connection at that time because of the following:

* a blog series to finish before the Phil Blog Awards night
* freelance writing stints
* my first work-at-home paid job as a video editor

The blog series and freelance writing stints are of no major concern, but the most crucial for me was that video editing job of which I have been accepted for just last March 17, meaning to say that I haven’t even made it through to my first month of being employed.

At that time, I just finished working on 3 videos each being 400MB+ in size, which are just impossible for a dial-up connection to handle. To put in more pressure, those videos needed to be uploaded to my boss’ FTP account for him to give to the client on March 30. So I really needed my internet connection, that’s why I called up Globelines customer support service an average of twice a day praying that they keep true to their word that ’service would be restored within 24-48 hours.’

Unfortunately they were not able to do that. Frustratingly, every time I would call, they promised that the service would be restored the following day and that someone from their side would give me a call and give me updates so that at least, I could say something concrete and excusable to my boss every time he would ask me why I’m having delays on submitting my work, but none of the promised phone calls came through.

This drama went on for 5 straight days, from March 28 up to April 1, each and every single day of that dilemma, the same promises were given and were broken. At what cost? The blogging series coming to a halt, my freelancing stints being soured and worst, I lost my video editing job. Wouldn’t this look good in my resume? Not being able to go through the first month of job, because I am an unreliable worker, all thanks to an unreliable telecommunications firm posing as a world-class internet service provider.

This experience has really taught me a lot. It opened my eyes so to speak. It led me to a realization that Globelines is no different from the other ISPs in the country, from this experience I think they are now amongst the worst. It all started when that Taiwan earthquake revealed how crappy Globelines broadband service is, and ever since that revelation, we fellow Globelines customers here in Silang, Cavite have been plagued by that same troublesome ‘facilities/equipment/cabinet’ in our area.

Though I haven’t blogged about it that much, this same problem has been recurring in our area since January of this year. Again for four straight days, our broadband service was utterly useless, and the same promises of 24-hour restoration and phone calls that never came we first experienced on that incident. It’s only April of the same year, meaning that the repair job done last January was only good for like two months. This observation leads me to the following conclusions; a) the equipment they use are substandard, b) the technicians and crew they hire are incompetent, c) Globelines really cares little about its subscribers in Silang, Cavite, or d) all of the above.

Further proof of this is my neighbor who has been on Smart BRO since last year. Before the Taiwan quake his life was a living hell because he’s on Smart BRO while I was a happy and proud Globelines broadband customer, I even encouraged other friends to sign up for their service. After the Taiwan quake, my life is now a living hell while my neighbor has had no problem with his Smart BRO service since then. Would you believe that? I mean hellooo! He’s on Smart BRO!! I’m on a fixed line dsl service, what gives?! Damn it!!!

Now I hope that Globelines would keep true to its word this time around and give us that promised rebate for the 5-day service disruption, human aggravation and financial loss. Pray also that they would really, really as in really fix the problem in our area for good. Replace the damned equipment if necessary, but this is for the future customers who would sign up for their services. As for me, I’m just waiting for my lock-in period to expire this coming May and I’m switching to PLDT myDSL for my internet needs, just as Max Limpag did (congratulations on winning the Blog Awards!) who even wrote a break-up post that’s really an eye opener. PLDT’s services may be crappy too, but not as crappy as Globelines’ in our area. Not unless Bayan Telecommunications or SKY happens to offer its DSL services here in our area, I’d be more than happy to sign up for it.

------------

Source : http://jrocas.com.ph/archives/i-hate-globelines-broadband/

Well, the same thing happens to me here in Iloilo City, Philippines exactly the same experience. Why did I said these against my ISP? Here is my story:

Our subdivision, a prominent and classy subdivision, is an exclusive subscriber to the Globelines Broadband, wow, what a wonderful agreement between the two, at least Globelines Broadband is secured that they are the only provider inside it. And no other broadband is allowed by that subdivision to put up internet cabinet facility inside it. So there's nothing I can do but to subscribe to Globelines Broadband, a week later, my hellish life begun, my connection is not stable, it connects for a day, then disconnects for about one week, how's that? I tried to call the customer service representative but all they can say is "Sorry for the inconvenience, Sir. I will make a report regarding this instance". Wow, what a compliment, do this lines makes my connection stable and back to the operation? Of course, not! I have been to three months on this ISP but the service is still the same. The same old, old story. My sentiment is that why is this exclusive subdivision permits to operate exclusive only for this ISP? Where in fact, they cannot hold on to their promise to provide their customers with a high speed, stable and better internet connection? My ISP really sucks. Well, I live in Iloilo City, Panay Island, Philippines, I am not really recommending this ISP to any of my friends, and I will try to talk to the manager of that exclusive subdivision to let other ISP do business in our location.

My work on the cyberspace is really affected with this kind of services they offer, its been a week exactly today that I don't have the connection. I am losing dollars every day because of them.

Please advise me with what else should I going to do with Globelines Broadband.

Back Links Page at anyInput.com

Recently, I have heard that we already have a page to put in back links whenever needed, so I immediately visited the page and found out that the page is up and running with vibrant colors as the background. That color orange page first caught my eyes and gave me the interest to explore the page and started wandering on how does the page operates.

It actually works like directory submission, where users places their site title, URL and description. The user must register in order to do this process. Registration is another part of the system, users starts to register by clicking on the register to create listings link, and will be redirected to a register page then supply username, password, names, and email address, after everything is in place, click the Save Settings button, and you have to verify your registration by clicking a link to our site which is sent to the email address you have provided during the registration process. Why we do this?Simply, to avoid fraud and automatic registration, and to make sure the registrant is a real person and most of all, to avoid hackers from exploiting our system.

The actual reason why we do have this page is that, directory submission sites often requires back links from links submitted, directory submission is a process done by an SEO (Search Engine Optimizer) personnel to ensure traffic from different types of sources, and to make the site to the highest rank possible of any search engine. Even though bookmark sites do not require back links, some other procedures in doing SEO asks for it, so in order for us not to have a hard time making HTML tags for their back link posts, we opted to device this page.

What is the site we are promoting? Obviously, Anyinput is the site we are trying to make it to the top of every search engine. Anyinput is a free site to lists down any information which you feel like really important to you. Especially when you sometimes used to forget the things you badly needed in your day to day job, be it your favorite DVD you just bought lately, a game card you've always think of, a list of phone numbers maybe, or anything that comes into your mind, feel free to put them here. Anyone can find this site by typing into the search engine the following keywords: online data collection, free online data storage, information sharing, data exchange, online file sharing, online file storage, movie collection, data collection, free online catalog, web data collection, internet data collection, open information sharing, data collection services, online storage, free online storage, online file storage, free online file storage, online data storage, so go and try this them now, its enjoying and exciting to make anyinput of any of your information in mind. Try it now, anyway, its just free, nothing to pay for, nothing to worry about.

A Key Enabler of anyInput: The Symfony Framework

In Fall of 2007, I decided it was time to stop wasting my time on the job and try to develop a product that might be useful to people. The product would be called anyInput, free online data collection. As a requirement, the product needed to use free technologies, the LAMP Stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).

My first attempt at developing anyInput (data collection) was to take some free open source software and modify it to suit my needs. I thought modifying someone else’s code would be easy; In actuality it was very difficult. Basically, the code was unstructured and illogical. The HTML and MySQL queries were embedded with the PHP business logic. If you wanted to change the way particular page looked, then you would have to drill deep down into the files and separate the HTML and MySQL queries from the business logic. This was a terrible and time consuming experience that resulted in little progress.

Then I discovered the concept of “framework.” When I was scouring the web for free development tools for anyInput (online data collection), I browsed across the Symfony Framework. I dismissed Symfony because:

I did not know what a framework was

Symfony would probably be too tedious to learn

It turns out that I was very wrong! Frameworks can be defined in many ways. I define a framework as:

a structured methodology for developing code (MVC model)

a tool that has many commonly used web programming constructs already defined

After I got feed up with trying to modify open source PHP code, I decided to revisit the Symfony Framework. They have great documentation and a great tutorial about creating Askeet, a Yahoo Answers type of site. A few days into the tutorial, I decided that Symfony would be used as the framework for creating anyInput from scratch – free online data collection. More on the Symfony Framework and its capabilities later.

Useful Features of Our Products: anyInput and anyAssets

One of the subjects I have not talked about so far is our products. After all, this is our company blog, which should be used for marketing purposes! As of now, our products are anyInput and the upcoming anyAssets. While that statement is true, I am NOT saying that employement is a bad thing. Having a job is useful since you gain experience and may learn a thing or two. Sure, the learning may be slow, but you still learn a few useful things. After all, I did and still am!

I once was told by a seasoned entrepreneur to “continue working at your job and you will see many unresolved problems. These problems spaw ideas, potentially ideas that you can start a business from.” On the job, while learning about many aspects surrounding a device, I noticed that my company still uses paper records to log information about indivdual devices. Often times they need to search through large file cabinets to find a particular device’s history. Sometimes, they are unable to find the records.

Well, the solution to their problem is obvious. A database of some sort should be used in place of paper records. There are many software solutions that they could use. On the more complex and expensive end could be software from SAP, Microsoft and Oracle. On the less complex end they could use an Access database with a simple GUI on it.

Knowing my company and the speed of which they do things, I would say that they prefer incremental change that is less obtrusive. So my idea for anyInput was re-enforced again!

Useful Things I Learned On The Job And Apply To anyInput

In my last post, I talked about how work reinforced my an idea. I saw a problem and dreamed of a solution. The job is also useful for other learnings as well. On the technical end, work taught me about the tools and techniques I applied to the development of anyInput. For example:

Source Control - Essentially, you check out a file, modify the file and check the file in. For small projects the usefulness of source control is in seeing what other people changed and reverting back to a previous version just in case you screw things up. At work we use, Rational ClearCase.

Issue Tracking - I know you probably have a great memory that can remember more than 7 things at a time. However, most people cannot remember more than 7 things at one time. Often you need to remember 100s of issues for your project. Whenever you have thought of an enhancement or notice a defect you should enter it in your issue tracking system so you can address it in the future. We use Rational ClearQuest at work customized for each project.

Test Methodologies - My first software product was built in Visual Basic 6 and was not tested at all. anyInput was tested very throughly. Testing at work taught me how to identify the weak points in the software using requirements as a guide. At work the testing is still done with manual test cases so we just use Microsoft Word. Eventually, I hope they move to automated tools such as Silktest or WinRunner.

Sure, any of these tools or techniques may slow you down. However, in the end, they benefit you greatly especially as the amount of people working on the project grows.

I know there is a lot of other useful tools and techniques out there. Have any in mind?

Free And Low Cost Software For Developing a Small Software Project

The company I work at is a huge, so they don’t mind spending hundreds of thousands of dollars a year for IT stuff. Us small guys do not even have an IT budget. ClearCase and ClearQuest and anything Microsoft are simply to costly! Anything dealing with PHP, Linux, MySQL and SVN is probably cheaper or free and best way to go!

Since, I had to spend quite a bit of time seeking out the below software tools and services, I thought it may be handy to list the tools we used for anyInput. The below tools are free or low cost.

Version Control

DevGuard ($8 / mo) - Our SVN host. We use an SVN provider since we do not want to worry about setting up an redundant in house SVN server. Also, DevGuard is relatively cheap.

TortoiseSVN (free) - The best Winblows SVN client out there. When you enter commit comments, it auto-suggests functions from the modified source files. Also, the diff and the conflict resolution functionality are awesome. Unfortunately, I migrated to Linux Ubuntu, which does not have Tortoise. I end up using SmartSVN or the command line SVN client now. I do use Tortoise from work sometimes though.

Issue Tracking

Mantis (free) - Mantis is not the best issue tracking system out there but the price is right. Anytime I discover a bug or think of a new feature then I enter it into Mantis for addressing later. You can cycle the issues through stages such as Submitted, Acknowledged and Resolved. You can also enter notes for each issue. Mantis is multi-user so it is useful for our small team of two people. Sometimes, I am lazy and do not enter thoughts into Mantis so I end up forgetting them. Mantis is basically a place to unload your brain.

Development

LAMP Stack (free) (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) - We use Debian for the production environment and Ubuntu for development environments. Ubuntu is Debian based. What’s really cool about Debian is that it already has a boat load of packages suck LAMP stack and a plethora of other useful programs (phpMyAdmin, Bluefish, Symfony and etc). All that you need to do is issue a command and the software is downloaded and installed. Enough said about the LAMP stack.

phpMyAdmin (free) - I do not like using the command line interface to MySQL. phpMyAdmin a GUI to all of the functionality of the MySQL database. For instance, If you want to insert or alter data in a table, phpMyAdmin builds the SQL for you and executes it!

Bluefish (free) - An linux editor that supports many programming languages such as PHP. Bluefish is not as good as NuSphere PhpED ($200), the PHP editor for Windows that I used previously, but it does the job and the price is right.

Symfony Framework (free) - An awesome PHP5 framework. It simplifies the development process by generating code and having commonly used web functionality built in. More on Symfony in a later post.

ORM (Object Relational Mapping) (free) - The Symfony Framework has the Propel ORM built in. Propel essentially is another layer of code that sits above the database. Propel basically generates objects based on your schema so that you do not need to write SQL for non-complex queries. It handles INSERTs, SELECTs, UPDATEs and DELETESs all in the generated objects. I am sure you know how tedious it is to write and debug SQL queries in your code!

If there are any tools I should be aware of then please let me know about them! Would you like me to go more into detail about setting up some of the above software?

KISS Principle (Keep It Simple Stupid): Is it really simple?

A wise woman once told me about the KISS principle that she learned while in the Navy. She wanted software that could help her keep track of documents while on the job. She only needed the software to have a certain set of core features. All other “nice to have” features such as reporting and complex sorting were not needed according to her. Why was this?

Upon further probing, she stated that she wanted a system that worked for her immediate need of tracking documents. She did not want a system that was confusing, complex and bloated with features that she would probably not use.

My interpretation of the KISS Principle is that you are at point A. You need to get to point B. Just choose the simplest path to reach point B. Sure this sounds easy, but when you apply the principle to a particular type of customer or coding problem, the solution may become less obvious. Let’s examine the principle more:

From the customer perspective, it means making the GUI interface as simple and easy to understand as possible so the customer will not be confused. For anyInput, I had a web designer come up with a simplistic and usable design with visual cues. I truly believe that the interface is simple. What do you think? I am also confident that technical users can understand the product. But not the non-technical users who we are targeting.

From the developer perspective, it means implementing code elegantly and as straightforward as possible. I was the main developer and took significant time to come up with the best, simplistic, most elegant way to solve each programming problem. I am not a the type of programmer who only comes up with one solution and starts implementing it.

Applying the KISS Principle to all aspects of anyInput required a long time. There were many permutations of a solution. And often times the chosen solution may not be the best. Often times, the thoughts are about common sense subjects. Further, these thoughts arise because of daily experiences. Nevertheless, I need to convince myself about these ponderings. On a side note, knowing business is about having common sense and intuition. Business is not about smarts, but having smarts helps!

Anyway, I look at statistics for anyInput on a daily basis in Google Analytics. One of the statistics is “bounce rate.” The bounce rate is the percentage of visitors that entered anyInput on the same page that they left on. So if a browser visits the anyInput homepage and leaves, the bounce rate increases. A high bounce rate indicates that many browsers are not interested in your site.

The fact is, not everyone will be interested in your product. If you engage in mass marketing, then you are targeting everyone. What percentage of those people will be interested in your product? For anyInput, I can say that the maximum percentage is 2%. So at max 2 / 100 visitors are interested enough in anyInput to sign up for a free account.

Mass marketing is probably not effective for anyInput. The alternative to mass marketing is using targeting advertising. There are many ways to target advertising such as Search Engine Optimization of PPC search engine ads. Just remember, you need to know what your customers are searching for if you use targeted advertising!

Marketing Adventures #2: E-mail Marketing Vacillation

I was about to engage in e-mail marketing. There are two methods to go about mass e-mailing people:
* Purchase a e-mail list from a company of people who are interested in a subject for X dollars.
* Use another companies opt-in e-mail list to send out information about your company for a fee.

In general, I believe that mass e-mail is not an effective means of advertising:

* Firstly, the messages you send may go to SPAM. When a message is in SPAM, readers pay little attention to it, if at all.
* Secondly, the click through rate is very low. Back in my masters program, I took a class titled E-Marketing. The teacher stated that the response rate is 1%. So that means 1/100 people that receive the e-mail actually take some action. Then you need to consider what percentage of that 1% actually turn into customers.
* Thirdly, if a recipient did not opt-in, some of the people may complain. This is a big no no because your ISP may disable your domain name. ISPs have very strict policies against unsolicited e-mails. So buying an e-mail list from a company for thousands and mass e-mailing those people who have not opted-in may be detrimental to your website.

Let’s look at one case study. Thembid spent $3000 to use the LA Times to mass e-mail 20,000 people on its opt-in e-mail list. They received 120 hits to the Thembid site or a 6% click through rate, which is higher than 1%. 3 of those visitors signed up or 0.015% of 20,000 e-mails sent. The cost per click is $25.00 ($3000 / 120 clicks). Google PPC is way better at 30 cents per click.

In all, is e-mail marketing effective? Thembid does not think so and neither do I.

Useful Features of Our Products: anyInput and anyAssets

One of the subjects I have not talked about so far is our products.
